To create a packaging style for this advanced line of Biotique products(An ayurveda brand) I looked into Indian history and luxurious styles of depicting sceneries and flora/fauna. Indian miniatures are beautiful handmade paintings, which are quite colourful but small in size. The highlight of these paintings is the intricate and delicate brushwork, which lends them a unique identity. The colours are handmade from minerals, vegetables, precious stones, indigo, conch shells, pure gold and silver. There were a number of miniature schools in the country, including those of the Mughals, the Rajputs and the Deccan. The Mughal style is distinct from other styles in its commitment to realism or the delineation of likeness. The Mughal painters were asked to paint unusual specimens of flora and fauna in their exact likeness. The subject matter was then decorated with rich embellishments of flowery borders. Taking inspiration from this style I’ve depicted intricately-illustrated flowers to create the visual impact of a Mughal painting with rich borders as the framework.
